Our trip to Hawai`i (2010)–Day 11

Wailea Beachwalk

Patty celebrates her birthday today! After singing her Happy Birthday in bed, we eat breakfast and walk the beach (seven miles total walking today). She wanted to walk the Ka`anapali Beachwalk but it’s sprinkling rain up there so we head south to the Wailea Beachwalk. The weather is nearly perfect and it’s always nice to revisit our wedding spot on the hill overlooking the beach next to the Four Seasons resort. We walk as far north as the Wailea Elua then south almost to the Kea Lani. It’s quite a decent little trek and it’s preferred to the Ka`anapali Beachwalk.

Kimo’s

Back to the room, I hit the sun for a little over an hour, shower, nap, then we head off to Kimo’s Restaurant at 5:15. Kimo’s is a very special place for us, being we ate dinner there after we got married fourteen years ago. Arriving there just in time to see the sunset and the tiki torches lit. It’s nearly perfect. Ron, our waiter, does a great job–he is laid back but prompt with everything. I had the Teriyaki Sirloin, Patty had the Kushiyaki, which we both enjoyed. Dessert? What else but their Hula Pie? Coffee afterward capped off an outstanding dining experience. More walking and shopping afterward, then back to the hotel for some necessary laundry. It was a very nice day but the weather looks threatening for the weekend–light winds followed by Kona winds and rain. VOG? Hopefully not.
